Health Assessment

Medical checks and assessments designed to evaluate whether employees are fit for their specific job roles, and to ensure that work environments do not negatively impact their health. It's a critical part of workplace health and safety programs.

  • Purpose of Occupational Health Screening

    • Pre-employment: Assess if a person is medically fit for the job.

    • Ongoing (Periodic): Monitor workers’ health over time, especially in high-risk jobs.

    • Post-illness/Injury: Determine fitness to return to work.

    • Health Surveillance: Detect early signs of work-related illnesses.

    • Exit Screening: Record the health condition of an employee when they leave the job.

Legal & Ethical Considerations

  • Must comply with occupational health and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, HSE, etc.)

  • Must respect employee privacy and confidentiality

  • Should be job-specific and not discriminatory
